Logan Community Clean Air Coalition

Empowering Communities, Ensuring the Human Right to Breathe Clean Air

We believe that clean air is a human right

We envision a future where every individual in our communities breathes clean, healthy air, free from the harmful effects of pollution. Our vision sees a resilient, empowered community actively pursuing a better quality of life for all. Grounded in environmental justice, we affirm that clean air is a fundamental human right, regardless of socio-economic status or background.

We work to protect the health of our community and future generations

To safeguard the health and well-being of our community and future generations in East Boston, Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop, our Clean Air Coalition is dedicated to advocating for and implementing initiatives. These initiatives aim to reduce air pollution, mitigate its impact, and ensure environmental justice for all residents.

Who we are

Our members live and work in communities surrounding Logan Airport, the biggest polluter of the Commonwealth. Our communities include East Boston, Chelsea, Revere, Winthrop, and more. We are exposed to extreme air pollution from a combination of pollution from the airport, harbor, and more.

Unsurprisingly, East Boston, for example, has higher rates of children with asthma and adults with pulmonary disease than other parts of Boston. Air pollution exposure during pregnancy can cause premature birth, low birth weight, and developmental issues. And air pollution exposure in children can cause asthma, obesity, cancer, cognitive delay, and other challenges.

Our roots run deep in environmental advocacy, and our vision extends beyond cleaner air; it encompasses building a resilient and empowered community that actively engages in the pursuit of a better quality of life for all.
